Salisbury M.E.S.

Bringing the model-engineering community together.

Good News!

Good News! The Salisbury and District Model Engineering Society has now emerged from its Covid-induced hibernation, and we have started having meetings on our usual evening of the third Wednesday of the Month in the Idmiston / Porton Memorial Hall (not too far from Salisbury) at 7:30pm.
Whoever you are, you are invited to our meetings, (the first meeting in 2023 is on the 18th January).
Just come along to the hall on Idmiston Rd in Porton Near Salisbury at SP4 0LB, at 7:30 pm, and you will find a bunch of friendly model makers, armed with a kettle, tea and coffee plus biscuits for our mid-meeting break.
We are working on the programme of evening talks and other activities for 2023, listed on our Events and Evening Meetings Page, their dates will be advertised on that page of our website soon, so please do keep an eye on our website to see what dates the talks are on.
As you can see on our Events and Evening Meetings page we are inviting an interesting bunch of speakers to come and talk to us, and their varied topics are of interest not just to model engineers, so this is an invitation to everybody and anybody to come along to any of our meetings that take their fancy.
If you have any friends anywhere who might be interested in coming along to any of our meetings, please do encourage them to just come along. They don’t have be model makers, and they don’t have to contact us before “just turning up” (and they can contact us if they like, and we can generally offer them a lift to our meetings if getting to Porton is difficult for them).

COVID-19 VIRUS NOTIFICATION

The present Government Recommendations see the lifting of all previous Covid restrictions; however, following the advice from ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) and the latest Government guidance we feel it is now up to individuals to manage the risks to themselves and to others. We will do our utmost to ensure the Hall is kept clean and we will provide hand sanitiser for general use, in return we expect ALL Hall users to maintain a good hygiene regime while in the building.

Idmiston / Porton Memorial Hall Committee recommends the following the following Precautions:

  1. Meetings should take place in well-ventilated areas where possible, eg. with windows open.
  2. (Warm clothing advised)
  3. Wearing a face covering where you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet in enclosed and crowded spaces.
  4. Washing your hands with soap and water or using the hand sanitiser regularly throughout your visit.
  5. Maintaining lists of group attendees or using the QR code.
  6. Staying at home if unwell, to reduce the risk of passing on other illnesses onto friends, family, colleagues, and others in your community.
  7. Considering individual risks, such as clinical vulnerabilities and vaccination status
